After studying at the Gewerbeschule in Basel, the Slade and the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London, Pierrakos moved permanently to Paris where he continues to live and work, frequently exhibiting in Greece.

Dominated by vivid colours and explosive movement, Planetaire reflects the artist’s highly subjective perception of the natural world. Its expressive intensity derives as much from the formal structure as the personal confrontation between the painter and the canvas. It is a carefully composed work in which diagonals are juxtaposed to curved forms and warm colours clash with cool ones.
