BIOGRAPHY

He was born in Athens and comes from Naxos. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Nikiforos Lytras in painting and Georgios Broutos in sculpture. He continued his studies for five years at the Academie Julian near Paul Landowski and at the Ecole Superiere des Beaux Arts in Paris. On his return to Athens, he opened a workshop with Nicholas Ransom, near the National Archaeological Museum. They were the founding members of the group "Art". He was one of the most prolific Greek sculptors of the interwar era. Among other things, created the Keratea Hero (1916), Mytilene (1919) and Giannitsa (1925). Also, as a representative of outdoor sculpture, constructed the busts of "Nikitara" (1937), marble in the field of Ares in Athens, the painter's "Pericles Byzantium" in Plaka on the road Diogenes, the poet Lambros Purpura in Chios, the Aspasia Manos, etc. One of the most prestigious projects Zevgolis is the full-length marble nude "Eve", which has been set up since 1995 in place currently in Nikolopoulou Square (formerly Square Rostan) in Athens district of Ano Patissia KYPRIADOU. He has presented his work in solo exhibitions (Athens, 1919), and took part in panhellenic exhibitions and group exhibitions of the Greek Association of Artists (1915, 1917).
