Mainly a marine and landscape painter, C. Bolanachi grew up near the sea which explains his great love for marine paintings. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, traveled to many countries and returned to Greece in 1883. He became a professor at the School of Fine Arts (then called School of Arts). With his marine paintings, he succeeded very quickly and was bestowed with many awars.
