BIOGRAPHY

He was born in Fthiotida, in 1928 and he died in 1986.

He studied painting at the School of Fine Arts with teachers S. Papaloukas and G. Morali. He continued studying lithography at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, with teachers  M. Briancon and E. Clairin. In Paris, he remained until 1971.

His painting is directly influenced by abstract art. In many works, the painting proved by the interest in the archaic, folk and decorative art of cultures. In several series of pictorial compositions dominate the earth colors and especially the shades of ocher, while not missing and works where earth tones combined with red, green and blue colors. His sculptures, tall wooden columns, show a direct influence of African sculpture and confirming that the activity as a painter, sculptor and engraver was in constant dialogue and interaction. Systematic was also his practice with engraving.

He presented his work in solo and group exhibitions. His works can be found at bibliotheque Nationale and at the Musee d'Art Moderne, in Paris, in Municipal Gallery of Rhodes etc. Illustrated books of modern and foreign poetry, the Greek mythology of G. Gerali etc. On behalf of the «Civic Theater» of Johannesburg, he painted the scenery and the costumes for the tragedy Oedipus Rex, and Ajax. He was a member of EETE (Chamber of Fine Arts).
