BIOGRAPHY

Born in Imbros, in 1907 and died in Damascus, in 1956. He studied painting and sculpture at the School of Fine Arts (1924-1930), with teachers D. Geraniotis, Nikolaos Lytras, S. Vikatos G. Iacovidis and Th. Thomopoulos. He dealt with portrait, after the encouragement of Iakovidis. Academic realistic with an impressionistic touch, carefully processed subjects of his works. Painted portraits, nudes, still-life paintings, landscapes. Among his portraits is distinguished that of George Iakovidis, his self-portrait and the portrait of his wife, the artist Marina Chaikalis. He also painted figures of the Middle East and has published cartoons in the newspaper free man.

He presented his work in many solo exhibitions:
•     "Parnassos", 1932,1934,1936,1937,1945,1946,1948,1950,1951,1952

and took part in many group exhibitions:
•     Panhellenic 1938,1939,1940
•     Omas of 17, Zappeion, 1949,1950
•     Posthumous retrospective exhibition of his works, Athens, 1976

His works can be found in the Municipal Gallery of Athens, Piraeus, Syros in the Greek Parliament, Athens Academy, the Naval Museum of Greece, Piraeus, the palace of Jordan and Riyadh, the Patriarchate of Antioch, etc. He wrote articles in newspapers. He was a member of "Group 17" and EETE (Chamber of Fine Arts).
