Special Information for the Artist
He studied graphic arts at Tei of Athens in 1986 and painting at Athens School of fine arts in 1994. In 1988 he participated in Biennale of Theatre in Portugal, while in 1990 he published hand made publications with his characteristics entitled: The Ascension of Dionysios Solomos in the skies.
In 1994 inspired from the old Nursery toward Municipal Gallery of Athens he reconstructed a crib as object for the exhibition but simultaneously places a letter for lost Anna-Maria that is the red spinner in the myth that begins from the Solomos’ poems and that lasts till today. From the “box” of crib till the Black box with which it represents Greece in Biennale of Venice in 1997 him where he is granted the reward Benesse. He continues with his work ‘Do you want?’, which was financed by the British Council of Arts. After the Benesse reward the artist signs a contract in Japan, in USA, in England and in Spain.
In 1999 in Boston, in the Gallery “Lionheart” he calls the spectator to be defused and to make simultaneously a dive in his life, in his deepest sentiments, by playing boxing with a bag from a material that does not leave to remain on him footprints of violence, not even elements of memory.
Occasionally he has presented his work in several individual exhibitions such as Indigo Hydra 1991, Gallery 4 Volos 1994, kapnapothiki Spirer Volos 1994, Smaragda Ioannatoy 1995, Labada Madrid 1996, Deitch Projects N. York 1998, Cartwrigh Hall Art Gallery Bradford 1998, Epicentre 1999, Lionheart Boston 1999, and at the same time he has participated in various group exhibitions.
He has presented “Two street Histories”, video in collaboration with the dance team “Sine qua non”.
He has worked on the planning of forms, posters, theatrical and dancing programs, and as author or illustrator collaborated with magazines 01, Klik, Epsilon, New and Symbol and as editor in AEON 21
During the period 1995-1996 he published in the magazine 01a series of comics Unscrupulous Performers.
He is member of EETE and in the age of 34 there are many more to expect from his acute and uneasy spirit.
