BIOGRAPHY

Piraeus 1922 - Athens 1990

A painter with a strong presence in the abstract movement. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Athens from which he graduated in 1950. In 1953, he moved to Madrid where he continued his studies at the School of Fine Arts in San Fernando. One of the most important pioneers of 1960's movement (Dau al Set, El Paso), twice represented the spanish school of painting at the Venice Biennale. He was a contemporary of Tapies and Hanovez was awarded First Prize for Painting by the Union of Spanish Art Critics, the Grand Prize of Contemporary Spanish Painting and the painting prize at the International Exhibition in Lausanne. Perdikidιs has a profound awareness of plastic problems through lyric abstraction and colour. He is one of the most important Greek artists abroad.
