He was born in 1892 and he died in 1957.

Papaloukas began studying art at a very early age with his compatriot Papaconstantinou, the hagiographer. He continued at the School of Fine Arts in Athens and completed his studies at various schools in Paris.

He was interested in painting icons, but also in more secular subjects in all categories. He was apparently influenced by his study of Byzantine art at Mont Athos.

His art stands out for the  personal use of the post-impressionist movement'  forms, and particularly of Cezanne's.
