BIOGRAPHY

Theodoros Papagiannis was born in Ioannina in 1942. He studied sculpture at Athens School of Fine Arts with a scholarship under Giannis Pappas and engraving on copper, plaster method and applied arts. With an IKY scholarship, he studied ancient Greek art and Mediterranean region’s art by performing a series of trips to Egypt, Asia Minor, Cyprus, South Italy, Sicily and Istanbul. Postgraduate studies in Paris in modern sculpture materials at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Appliques et des Metiers d 'Art.
 
He worked as an assistant; afterwards he was elected deputy and today is a professor of Fine Arts Sculpture. On Sabbatical 6 months he visited America and studied educational programs and organization of Sculpture Conferences of Art Schools in New York. During the Erasmus educational exchange program he co-organizes regularly workshops with School of Berlin, of Brera and Bologna.
He has organized 32 solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. For 15 years he leads the organization of sculpture symposiums in cities of Greece and Cyprus, leaving large sculptures in public places. The sculptures are worked on the spot.
His monumental sculptures are placed in private areas, in museums and private collections in Greece and abroad. He has created statues and busts of important figures in Greece. Equally important is the creation of Medals and Coins, as well as decorative compositions. Many print and electronic media have interested in his work.
