Special Information for the Artist
Evdokia Panagiotopoulou lives and works in Rhodes. She studied painting and printmaking under scholarship in the State Academy of Fine Arts (“Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma”) in Rome, where she graduated “magna cum laude”. From 1979 onwards she maintains a painting-hagiography atelier. Τhe majority of her works is now in the possession of private collectors around the globe. Since 1990 she has painted numerous Greek Orthodox Churches in various islands of the Dodecanese complex such as Rhodes, Tilos and Nisyros. In 2011 she started working as an Art Teacher in the island of Rhodes. The way the artist handles color and form is very personal. She uses paintbrushes and spatulas and for her paintings she employs a wide range of techniques. The colors she uses (oil, acrylic, tempera paints, etc.) are cheerful with a tone of optimism. She works with the same comfort both on large surfaces and miniatures. Works of hers have been displayed in numerous exhibitions both in Greece and Italy, while in 2008 she received an award from the Italian parliament for her creations. Her creation, the icon of “Saint Nikitas of Nisyros”, is located in the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
