Special Information for the Artist
Dimitris Mathios was born in Mytilini in 1970 and raised in Athens.
He studied hagiography and painting close to the Cretan painter Emmanuel Spanakis. He attended courses at the Metropolitan School of Nikaia and worked close to renowned teachers such as Nick Yalouris, Themis Petrou, Romanos. His contact with the masterpieces of Byzantine art during his frequent visits to Mount Athos and Sinai, contributed decisively to configure his art and his personality. His influences come from Byzantium, the Prorafailiki and Flemish School.
His works can be found at the Mount Athos, Chios, the Monastery of Sinai, and in private collections.
