BIOGRAPHY

Stella Mantopoulou was born in Athens in 1978.

The first seven years of her life she lives with her family in a country town where she gets in touch with nature. From then on she carries these memories as a treasure. She moves with her family in Athens where she starts taking piano lessons. She loves music but her preference for painting and fine arts makes her quit piano and devote herself to her brushes, her pencils, colors and images. During her school years she finishes her studies in two foreign languages, English and French. With the encouragement of her beloved godfather and poet Konstandinos Loukakis she studies design for seven years and manages to enter the Athens School of Fine Arts in the year 2000.There she studies painting for five years with Dimitris Sakellion as a teacher. She attends graphic art lesson for three years, as well as photography lessons for another year. She is selected and attends the workshop ATHENS DESIGN GAMES 2002, where she takes lessons from the famous French graphic artist Philippe Apeloig. In the same year she takes part in the workshop's exhibition which is organised by DD design magazine. In the year 2003 she gets the I.K.Y. scholarship. In the year 2004 she graduates from the Athens School of fine Arts.

The following, year she participates in the graduates' exhibition. Nowadays she works as an art teacher in public secondary schools. Her art work includes painting with oil, watercolours, pencils, ink, collage and video. Parts of nature are constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed on canvas. Images of her environment endeavour to evolve and spread all over the canvas. Images that move from the inside to the outside, from dense to sparse. Images that serves eternal virtues of painting.
