BIOGRAPHY

Born in Ermoupolis of Syros, in 1940.

In 1957 he moved to Athens and by the next year he began studying stage design and costume design at ATI (1964 graduate), taught by S. Vassiliou, A. Tassos, C. Tsarouchis, I. Apartis etc. From 1963 to 1966 he worked as a designer in various Athenian theaters. In 1971 he visited Teheran and stayed there until 1978.

In his early works reflect a realistic aspects of the Greek landscape, the deep blue sea, rocky mountains and the island of whitewashed houses next to the imposing, an Orthodox church, by the way, architectural simplicity village. During his stay in Persia, receives clear influences from the oriental culture, especially the art of miniature. Buildings in the Islamic period highlight the tables and coexist with headless, naked male bodies and oversized fruit, flowers, plants, shells and insects. In these works, the precise approach and persistence even in extreme detail, interwoven with a clear allocation surrealistic associations.
This "marriage" of photography, realistic log with the spirit becomes unrealistic a priori characteristic of the artist from the 70s onwards. At the same time he settles in the display of empty, deserted spaces, rich with Renaissance perspective, the plausible, illusory representation of the style objects and muscular anatomy of sensual nude teen and focus on everyday aspects of nature which is dominated by the size and unreal the dreamy, irrational their placement in the composition.
