Nikolaos, the son of Nikiforos Lytras, was one of the most talented artist of his generation who died at the age of forty-four. A student of his father's at the School of Fine Arts in Athens, Nikolaos Lytras continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with a scholarship given by the Holy Order of the Virgin Mary of Tinos. He was quickly distinguished for the works he presented in Munich and in Rome. Upon in his return to Athens, he took part in the exhibition by the "Association of Greek Artist" and was one of the founding member of the "Art Society". In 1923, he was appointed professor at the School of Fine Arts. The paintings of Nikolaos Lytras are distinguished by the outline of the shapes ant the emphasis on colours.
