Michalis Leventis, Greek Cypriot, born in 1944 in Accra of Ghana, is a self taught artist with passion for painting.
He first appeared in the art scene after strong acceptance and encouragement of Francis Bacon, with whom he maintained a close relationship, taking into account the fact that Bacon, was sparing in compliments.
He paints portraits and represents the fauna and flora, influenced by Francis Bacon and Giorgia O'Keefe. Exploits the surface of the canvas and in some cases using letters of the alphabet and numbers that refer to pop art and the New York School of Painting.
