Special Information for the Artist
Born in Mavrommati of Messinia, 1937.
Champion in running (1956-1966). He studied painting and engraving at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1973-1975), with teachers J. Yankel and J. Lagrange, plastic arts at the University of Paris VIII (1975-1976) and philosophy of art in Sorbonne (Paris I), where he was also awarded the role of Doctor in 1987 (for the study of Le rôle social et philosophique du Karaghiozis).
He moves in the space of expressionism with characteristic austerity. In his sculptures exists intensely the element of deformity of expression of sentiments, in the engravings dominates the geometricity and expresionistic use of colour. In Karagkiozis performances he attempts the introduction of new characters and the writing of scripts with modern thematic.
