Corfu 1887 - 1940
The Corfiot Kogevinas Lycurgus was the pioneer of classical carver prints in the history of Modern Art Printmaking. He is the first Greek engraver carving in Paris in 1906-1912 the first engravings (Eau-forte), which states in Athens in 1915 first etchings in the technique of Eau-forte. He is also the first Greek engraver who prints color etchings in Paris in 1925-1932. The engravings are Kogevinas moduls (albums); The Monasteries of Mount Athos, landscapes of Ancient Greece, Greek ships of the revolution, etc.
