BIOGRAPHY

He was born on 9 December of 1930, in Trikala, Thessaly. After brief studies at Panteion University (1948-1950) entered the School of Fine Arts in Athens (1951), gets a diploma (1955) and a scholarship from the Scholarship Foundation (1957) studying Fresco at the School of Fine Arts in Paris.

In Paris he stays until 1963. While traveling in Belgium, Holland, Spain, Italy, England. Later, he made several trips to Venice, to Basle, in Kassel, Brussels, Berlin, watching the big international exhibitions. In 1973 he left for New York with a Scholarship of the Ford Foundation. There,  he worked for two years and made trips to Washington, Boston, Florida and Canada. In Greece participates actively in the effort to create a climate of contemporary art with television appearances and numerous interviews to newspapers and magazines. Also founded with other artists the group "Intersection" (1963) and the Association of Artists (1976).

He is also the organization's first conference of Greek Artists Fine Arts (1963), the symposium with theme: Foundation Museum of Contemporary Art in Greece (1977), and the symposium with theme: Contemporary Art and Tradition (1981).

From 1955 up today, has taken part in many group exhibitions in major capitals of Europe and America and in 1984 he represented Greece at the Biennale of Venice. He made 40 solo exhibitions.

The project have been analyzed extensively in the texts, Efi Ferenc (1975) in monograph Caras, painting from 1960 to 1975, Emmanuel Mavrommatis (1982) in monograph morphoplastic variations in the pictorial space of Christos Karas 1959-1963, 1976-1982 and Dora Iliopoulos-Rogan in the monograph spreads and maturing artistic pluralism (1987). Also have been written many articles for his work from Greek and foreign critics in newspapers and magazines.
