BIOGRAPHY

Panagiotis Gravvalos was born in Lamia in 1933. At the age of 18 years came to Athens, where he has been living so far to study at the State Scholarship Foundation at the School of Fine Arts, with professors G. Moralis and Spiros Papaloukas. After 1960 he studied and dealt with the Graphic Arts. From 1961 to 1967 he taught at the Doxiadis Laboratory of Graphic Arts School close to the engraver A. Tassos, with whom he collaborated on the design of many Greek and foreign stamps. In 1968 together with George Vakirtzis and Kostas Tzimoulis began to gather material for his book "THE PEOPLE SIGN IN GREECE" released in 1974. In 1971 global competition in Warsaw, was awarded a poster with sports content with the first prize and has since exhibited at the Museum of Graphic Arts in Poland. In 1981 he released the book "Optical" prepared together with the photographer Nick Short. He has been awarded internationally for many of the stamps, and award engraving in second Nationwide News Report. It is a member of several artistic groups, including the "Association of Contemporary Art", the "Group communication and education in art", the "Group Centres engraving", which has exhibited in various parts of Greece and abroad. Between 1982 and currently is a consultant to the Museum of Modern Art, City of Rhodes, where during his tenure held several significant exhibitions of Greek artists. It also helped to enrich the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, City Rhodes and the Municipal Gallery of the Municipality of Lamia, with works of important Greek artists. From 1986 until it was absorbed by Alpha Bank, was artistic advisor to the Ionian Bank where he created a collection of engravings, edited versions of the operation and prepared the Museum of Prints and Graphic of the same bank. The activities of Mr. Panagiotis Gravvalos the visual arts, dynamic and important, not only limited to creating art, but extended to the organization, distribution and renewal of artistic education in renewal and development of graphic arts in the country and in many other areas of applied arts. His works are in many museums Printmaking, Graphic Arts and philately around the world. Also, the Museum of Modern Art, City of Rhodes, the Municipal Art Galleries, Ioannina, Larissa, Thessaloniki, Lamia, etc. and in many private collections in Greece and abroad. During 1997-2004, he worked with the Olympic Games in Athens, the Agency Co. Athens 2004 as Artistic Director. From 1997 until the Games begin, he designed many of the lapel pins that released. He also designed the 24 official Collectibles Coins issued by the Mint of the Bank of Greece, including 8 Gold and 16 Silver. He artistically edited the Olympic and Paraolympic medals of the Games.
