BIOGRAPHY

Angeliki Chantzimichali was born in Athens in 1895.

She studied painting close to painters, G. Roilos and E. Ioannidis. She had two children. She dealt with the study and the promotion of Greek folk art as well as the collection and preservation of folk art. In 1921, she organized the A' Industrial exhibition of Lyceum of Greek Women. In 1927, she organized the exhibition of the Pan-Hellenic Greek folk art in Delphi in the Delphic Festivals, in collaboration with A. Tarsouli and G. Tsarouchis and in 1930 the Balkan exhibition in Athens.

She showed an interest in the production of products of folk crafts and the creation of craft schools such as the "Greek House", the Link of Laboratories of crafts, the Workshop of Popular Art and the House of Girl in Athens, School of Industrial Samoa, Lampriadeio School in Zagoria of Epirus and the Touleio School in Metsovo.

In 1956 she was honored for her contribution with the silver medal of the Athens Academy and in 1958, with the Pourfina prize for her work "Sarakatsani".

She died in 1965.
