Special Information for the Artist
Studied painting at the School of Arts (1848-1854). He visited Mont Athos and from 1883 he dealt with hagiography. He was from the ringleaders of the foundation of Christian Archaeological Company. He is considered the most important and appreciable representative of ecclesiastical (church) painting.
