BIOGRAPHY

Antonakos is a self-taught artist. Within the framewok of art`s relation to modern reality and το the “new realism” pop art, he uses everyday materials and objets-trouves which he combines and assembles in contructs or at the same time he produces collage or sewlages. Starting in 1960 he enters more decisively in the area of neon exploitation. In his first works, we discern his obvious intention to cancel the associations to the realistic and vulgar character established by the use of neon in the modern environment, via the adoption of a strictly abstractive and minimalistic method of writing.
