Golden section
Title that is given to the mathematical relationship between three points in a straight, where the ratio AG:BG is equal to the ratio BG:AB. This relationship was given almost mystical proportions in the views of some thinkers of the Renaissance, was called "divine proportion" and was used extensively by painters such as Piero del Francesca. The strong interest for a system of mathematical ratios, which was close to the golden section, pushed the Orfistes to give this title to an exhibition that organized in 1912 and to a journal that issued in the same time.
