Synthetism
Painting style that dominates the work of Gauguin, E. Bernard and the other artists who worked in Pont-Aven of Brittany. In 1889, during the World Fair in Paris, the artists of the Pont-Avenue organized an exhibition entitled Synthetism. In the group of Synthetists created in 1891, participated P. Gauguin, E. Bernard, S. Laval, Louis Anquetin and E. Sufeneker. Tables of these artists dominated the spot, vibrant colors, which are separated by heavy black lines (Cloisonnism), and their belief was that the artist should avoid direct, naturalistic display and "composing" his impressions and feelings by painting from memory.
