Paris, (Psalter of Paris)
(10th century, nowadays in the National Library of Paris): Byzantine code of the golden age of the Byzantines’ illustrated manuscripts (when many artists were inspired by classical painting for their illustrations). The text is written in Greek and prose letters, accompanied by 14 full-page miniatures. Of these, the one of David with the harp, which came from the Greek-Roman image of Orpheus, became very popular and has been repeatedly copied.
