New Front of Arts
Group of Italian painters and sculptors formed after the Second World War. Its main aims were the release from the tradition and the monitoring of developments in European modern art. After participating in an exhibition in Milan in 1947 and in the Venice’s Biennale in 1948, the group (originally known as Nuova Secessione Artistica = New Artistic secession) split due to disagreements among its members, some of the members were followers of Abstraction and others were distinguished for their realistic tendencies.
