Macchiaioli
A group of Italian painters who worked in Florence in the period between 1855-65. Influenced by Corot and Courbet and reacting to the dominant academicism in Italy, at that time, they were using small brushstrokes and blotches of color to form their images. The major representatives of the group were Giovanni Fattori and Telemaco Siniorini.
