Luminism
Term used to describe the work of some American artists of landscape of the 19th century such as J.F. Kenset, F.H. Laine and M.J. Head. The luminists were often painting small-scale landscapes (following somehow the tradition of the old Dutch Masters), highlighting the horizon and reducing the size of the trees, the rocks, the objects, etc. Other characteristcs of the luministic landscape is their strong realism, but also the transcendent light that passes through them.
