World of Art, (The World of Art)
A company and a namesake magazine founded in 1898, in St. Petersburg and became the rallying center of many remarkable Russians, not only painters but also poets, musicians, etc. Characteristic of these artists was their reaction to the "provincial nationalism" of wandering, their sympathy for the Western ideas and the adoption of the doctrine "art for art". Diaghilev was the publisher of the magazine (1899-1904), with the Russian Ballets whose team members were cooperated later.
