Kashmir, (Art of Kashmir)
The Art of Kashmir and the neighboring Himalaya reached the culmination in the eighth century A.D. The temples of Kashmir are square, built of large stones with closed windows and pointed roofs (Avantipura, Martada and Naranagk). The tantric symbolism is obvious in both the Hindu and the Buddhist art of the region, while the magnificent bronze and stone sculptures are based on styles of the North India.
