Management Promotion Project
Service that was established by the Government of the United States in 1934-5. Organized a numerous of artistic programs, providing employment to about 5,000 artists during the Great Depression. Painters such as de Kooning and Gorky were among those who worked for W.P.A., whose activities ceased in 1939.
