Gandhara
Region on the northwest border of the Empire Kushan, at the Upper Indus (now Pakistan), known for its remarkable Graeco-Buddhist sculptures of the early centuries AD. The Greek, and specifically the Hellenistic, influence came from the nearby Bactrian. The Buddha is assigned as a young Apollon with east features, his nose is straight, his face is fleshy, his lobes of ears are elongated and his hair tied in a small bun on top of his head. The style of the sculptures of Gandhara later spread to China (Six Dynasties).
