Independent Group
Group of British artists, architects and art critics (among them P. Hamilton and E. Paolozzi), who meet and exchange views at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (Institute of Contemporary Arts, ICA) in London in the mid and the end of 1950. By dealing with the romantic part of American mass culture, the Independent Group was largely responsible for the birth of British Pop Art.
